Description:

The Cooperation Committee for Cambodia (CCC), in accordance with its bylaws, conducts Annual General Meeting (AGM) with its members and partners to review performance for the past year and to discuss plans for the following years. The AGM has started since in 1991 and each year, the AGM also discussed several respective key thematic issues including development trends, enabling environment, gender, social inclusion, quality services (education and health), governance, and many others. Last year, 2015 AGM was conducted with the theme “Partnerships for Sustainable Development in Cambodia”. This year 2016, with feedback from CCC members and Executive Committee (EXCOM), the AGM will be held with the theme: “CSO Engagement in Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Cambodia”. The SDGs were adapted by heads of states of UN, during the 70th UN General Assembly in New York. SDGs are a one holistic agenda, completing the unfinished agenda of MDGs, revisiting sustainable development with an integrated and balanced view of its three dimensions: social, economic and environmental. SDGs contain 17 goals, 169 targets, and more than 200 indicators (to be adapted by end of March 2016). This year AGM will convene on 10 March 2016 with very excited thematic programs, speakers, interactions with honors guests, displayed materials, and fairs. The first half morning session will inform and update members on CCC's new Executive Committee (EXCOM), sub-committees, and summary progress including achievements, finances, challenges, and lessons learnt in 2015 and operational plan and budget for 2016. The second half morning will discuss and produce a joint position paper on “CCC member’s engagement in localization of SDGs in Cambodia”. This session will have one presenter, three discussants, and one moderator. It will start by making a short presentation on SDGs and institutions mapping, proposed CSO governance structure, working approaches, and mechanisms where CCC members thought they are well place. Then, the discussants will comment to the presenter. Participants will have opportunity to provide inputs/comments and/or reactions to the session. The moderator will consolidate and call for endorsement from members. The afternoon, there will have five break-out sessions. The sessions will lead to have a CSO’s common position on proposed indicators of SDGs for Cambodia. The first session will be on social development (poverty, hunger, health, education and gender), the second session will be on economic development (energy, employment, infrastructure, inequality, and human resettlement), and the 3rd session will be on environmental development (water sanitation, consumption, climate, oceans, land and ecosystems). The fourth session will be peace, democracy and human rights (goal 16), while the fifth is about means of implementation and partnership. The panelists are representatives from key sectors who are contributing to social, economic and environmental development and sustainability. Each session will have a presenter, 3-4 speakers, and a moderator. There will be a presentation made by a CSO representative who has conduct a consolidated reports on inputs and perspectives of civil society organizations on proposed indicators of SDGs for Cambodia. In each session will have several small workshops to discuss in more detail on specific indicators of each goal. After the afternoon break, there will be multi-stakeholders dialogue on Cambodia’s Indicators. The session will start by reporting on results of break out session. The panelists will comments/reacts and then participants post their questions and/or comments to the panelists. Then it will be end by conclusion, way forward, and closing the AGM. Objective: 1. To appreciate key achievements of CCC and its members in contributing to development of Cambodia in 2015 and reassure members' commitments in new development paradigm of Cambodia in 2016 2. To collectively share, learn and endorse a joint position paper on "CCC member's engagement in localization of SDGs in Cambodia"?; and 3.
